Progress and New Classes

I’ve added 3 new classes at the end of the year, I was hoping to be in the new shop by then, but alas, that might not work, so I’ll be teaching instead of moving. The house project, like all house projects keeps growing and keeping me very busy. The work is very rewarding but also I’m not 30 anymore, so it’s going a bit slower and waking up the next day a bit more creaky.

The enrollment for the new classes starts Monday 4/3/23 at 8 am, send an email to info@petergalbert.com to secure a spot.

Here are some shots of the house for those following along!

The floors were like a funhouse (not so fun actually), so I had to level them out, to the tune of 4” in places

The upstairs framing gained a lot of interior space.

Check out the sapling studs!

Seeing framing inside has made a huge difference. The plumbing and electric are roughed in and now it’s all about siding and insulation

I'm Late!!!

If you haven’t already noticed, I’ve posted three new classes for next year, check out the schedule for details. I’m very excited to be offering my “Helix” chair as well as a Contemporary Rocker and finally a Design Class! I’m also happy to let you know that Peter Follansbee has a new class in March.

Let me know if you have any questions, enrollment starts at 8 am on Nov 15th. Please note that to enroll you must email me at or after 8am to secure your spot!!

Give me input on next years Classes!

I’m working on scheduling classes for next year and am interested in your input. I am planning more rockers, a design class and teaching my Helix armchair.

The Helix Armchair

The design class will focus on all aspect of creating a chair from concept drawings to models, mock ups , drafting and construction. The topics will range from material technology, ergonomics, structures, process and tooling. I ran a similar class last summer and it was a blast. The class will choose two designs to push through the process. This is not a class to build and take home a chair, it’s to learn how a chair goes from concept to creation.

Last summer this crew created this lovely birdcage lowback (why did I never think of this!!!!)

It was so inspiring to get all the creativity flowing, we all learned a lot.

We will also another class on the Temple chair, which has become a class favorite!

There is a single spot open in the November 2022 class on this chair as well as room in the December C arm class, check out the details on the schedule page.

I’m interested in your feedback, please let me know what you are interested in building!
