“Pete's encouragement, philosophy, and compensation structure convinced me to step out of my shop in the summer of 2024 to teach at his school. I've returned six times since then because the experience was so positive and encouraging.

Pete's enthusiasm and approach draw wonderful students and instructors. The synergy is special, it has been a joy and a privilege to teach there.”

I count myself fortunate to have found a home in the craft community. When I began on this path, I never imagined how sharing my work with others would guide my life and reward me in so many ways.

Teaching craft is more than just passing along skills. It’s building a link in a lineage that spans lifetimes.

I spent many years traveling to teach at various craft schools. It was an exciting time, full of new experiences and encounters. But the compensation rarely reflected the actual time involved in preparing for classes, traveling, and stepping away from my own work.

Ten years ago, I created a space where I could teach in a sustainable way. Soon, I began hosting guest instructors who faced the same dilemma of wanting to share their work, but not having a place they could afford to do so. The goal was to offer intimate, in-depth classes, that serve students while fully compensating instructors for their time, knowledge, and decades of experience.

Since its inception, the Guest Instructor Program at Peter Galbert Workshops has been able to meet this goal, I’ve kept costs low by providing the administration, instructor lodging, and infrastructure myself. This has kept tuition affordable and directed most of the proceeds toward the needs of the class and instructor. The guest instructor program is separate from my own teaching. I am grateful for all this work has brought to my life, and I believe in expanding the connections we share through craft.

A vibrant and diverse community has grown around the workshops. Because of students like you—who have signed up for classes again and again—we’ve added numerous instructors and classes. We’ve also hosted many scholarship classes and professional development opportunities for emerging craftspeople.

With the success and growth in the number of workshops, the effort to sustain them has grown as well. This community is bigger than me—and I can’t do it on my own.

Now, I can invite you to join me in supporting the Guest Instructor Program with tax deductible contributions.

Peter Galbert Workshops is fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, a nonprofit arts service organization, allowing tax-deductible charitable contributions to support this work. Every donation helps, you can choose your level of support on the Fractured Atlas website.

Your contribution ensures the opportunities and connections for the students and teachers will continue now, and into the future.

I am proud of what we have built and excited about what it can become with the support of the community it serves.

I hope you will consider joining me in this effort by donating and coming to share the experience in the workshops.
